Map #3: Introducing the Delivery Sitrep


This is the third and final map in the scenario. It introduces the Delivery sitrep.

Delivery combines aspects of the Recon and Control sitreps. At the end of Round 2, the PCs must designate one of four control zones as the objective zone. At the end of Round 6, the PCs must control this zone to win the encounter.

After the objective zone is designated, hostile reinforcements may enter from either the normal ingress zones or from the control zone diagonally opposite. This puts the NPCs right in the heart of the battle. The PCs will have to stand fast and fight fiercely to keep the objective free.

I wanted a sitrep that simulated the familiar action scenario situation of calling down a drop pod or launching a beacon. While a Holdout could certainly accomplish this, the Delivery sitrep gives the PCs choice of targets. Creating a new spawn point for reinforcements midway through the sitrep also complicates matters. The PCs should feel heavily pressed by the end of the encounter.

The playtesters actually lost this encounter the first time I ran it. They put down quite a lot of damage, but one agile NPC managed to dart through at the end of Round 6. Some bad luck with Stuns kept them from responding in full force. I freed up some of the terrain around the big Size 3 rock in the center of the map and made a few other tweaks, but otherwise you're facing the same encounter they did. Good luck!
